SVO books Revenue official for land fraud in Jammu

JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) on Tuesday booked a Revenue Official for issuing “fake and fraudulent” revenue extracts to an impersonator of a deceased person.
FIR has been registered against Patwai Shabir Ahmed Gorsi and others following a verification conducted by the SVO.
A complaint was filed by Rajinder Singh, Beant Singh and Harcharan Singh alleging the accused of issuing fake revenue extract of their late father’s land, situated in Deeli Tehsil area, to someone else.
The SVO verification has found that Mian Singh, who died in 1998, had occupancy rights of the land measuring 10 marlas falling under Khasra No. 905 min, Khata No. 266, Khewat No. 35 situated at Deeli, Jammu. Soon after his death, someone else in league with the accused officer issued revenue extract in his favour, the spokesperson said.
The impersonator later with the help of Patwari Gorsi sold the land to Shereen Khan, wife of Kamran Khan and Rajni Bala Mehta, wife of Brijesh Mehta before the Registrar in February 2012, having Paramvir Singh and Mahinder Pal Singh as the witness, he said.
The SVO has registered a case against him on the basis of prima facie establishment of offences on the part of Gorsi and others, he said.
FIR 16/16 has been registered under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 Section 419, 420 and 120-B RPC on the prima facie establishment of offences on the part of the then Patwari Shabir Ahmad Gorsi and others.
The SVO during the current year has registered 16 cases out of which eight cases have been registered against revenue officials including two trap cases, two against Education Department, two against Police Department, one against R&B Department, one against officials SKUAST, Jammu, one against Director Aids Control Society Jammu and one against CAPD Department Jammu.
