SVEEP awareness programme concludes

DODA: A month-long process of special awareness camps under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) concluded on Monday. The concluding function along with a debate competition was held at Government Degree College, Doda under the chairmanship of District Election Officer Doda.
Electoral Registration Officer (ACR) Doda Tariq Naik was chief guest on the occasion. Besides, Principal GDC, AD Employment Nodal officer SVEEP, professors, other faculty and a large number of students participated in the function.
During the camp, the ACR interacted with the students and discussed the importance of voting and elections in democracies. He made the participants aware about the process of electoral registration started by Election Commission of India to enroll the left-out electors with special emphasis on young students in the age group of 18-21 years. He asked the eligible students to take a pledge to get themselves enrolled in electoral rolls. The students raised many queries which were briefly addressed by the concerned. Later, a debate competition was also held on the theme of election and participatory democracy. About 10 students participated in the competition and the winners were felicitated by the chief guest with prizes.
