Suspected land dispute; Masked men open fire near Phallian Mandal, damage two cars

JAMMU: Some unidentified masked men opened fire and damaged two cars parked outside Panchayat Ghar Phallian Mandal on Tuesday evening.

No one got injured in the accident, police said. The incident happened around 6:30 PM when the assailants, travelling in an Alto car, initially used sharp weapons to damage the windows of two parked cars (Wagon-R JK02AK-5755 & ScorpioN JK02DL-9921) near Panchayat Ghar Phallian Mandal.
Following the vandalism, the gunmen fired three to four shots at three individuals-Arun Choudhary son of Janak Raj, Sachin Choudhary, son of Ashok Kumar, and Monmohan, son of Subash-while they were sitting near the Panchayat Ghar, however they managed to escape unhurt.
The attack further escalated the tense atmosphere in the area.
Before fleeing, the attackers also damaged the vehicles windows, the police said, adding that the incident may be related to rivalry over a land issue. Police ruled out involvement of any terror angle in this.
Arun Choudhary, who was at the farmhouse with two friends, recounted that masked men arrived in an Alto car and fired four to five rounds at the vehicles.
