KISHTWAR: A social and political activist of District Kishtwar has criticised the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Deptt of District Kishtwar for the shortage of sugar in the fair price shops of the district. The activist Shakir Siddiqui said even during the holy month of Ramadan the shortage of ration has forced people to buy these commodities from open market at a higher rate.
He stressed upon the government to ensure supply of sugar in all the fair price shops so that the public may not suffer for want of sugar.
He has strongly opposed the implementation of National Food Security Act in the State as it is against the people of Jammu and Kashmir as under this act the people are not given food grains as per the previous scale.
He has demanded immediate rolling back of the Food Security Act and demanded food grains to be disbursed as per the previous scheme.
Siddiqui urged upon the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to depute their officials in order to check rates on essential commodities and those found charging higher rates should be brought to book.
