Students witness proceedings, interact with Speaker

JAMMU: To provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the working of the Legislature, students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Canal Road Jammu on Saturday witnessed the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly from the visitors’ gallery.
The students were invited by the Speaker, Assembly Kavinder Gupta to watch the proceedings being conducted in the House and personally see how the public issues are being raised by the Legislators.
The students witnessed the morning session of the proceedings which was slated for the Discussion on Demand of Grants for various departments being headed by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti including General Administration, Home, Information, Tourism, Culture, Libraries & Achieves, Cultural Academy, Ladakh Affairs, Science & Information Technology, Planning and Development, Hospitality and Protocol.
The Speaker welcomed the students in the house and expressed hope that today’s experience of watching proceedings of the house will help the students in understanding the functioning of the legislature especially how the local representatives discuss the issues of public importance for the betterment of the people.
Later, the students interacted with the Speaker and raised certain queries related to the working of Legislative Assembly.
