Students pay homage to quake victims

UDHAMPUR: Students of Maharaja Hari Singh DAV Public Hr. Sec. School, Padha Lane, Lambi Gali, Udhampur paid homage to the victims of recent devastating earthquake which took the lives of around 8,000 people of Nepal, Bihar and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The management members, staff and the students lit the paraffin candles and observed silence for two minutes in the honour of death victims of the earthquake.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Institution, Romesh Sharma, narrated to the students how earthquakes take place and what precautions should be taken in case of an earthquake strikes the region. He also told them that not only the earthquakes, there are also some other disasters like heavy rainfall and aftermath floods which struck our State recently and strong winds arising out of unending slaughtering of trees of forests for the greediness of the man and his constant interference with the environment, green house effect, ozone depletion etc.
Principal of the Institution Durgesh Nandini stressed upon the need of the hour on the conservation of environment and advocated for the checks on the greediness of the people who exploit various resources for their means.
In the end, the students prayed to the Almighty God for the peace of the innocent souls who lost their lives in this earthquake.
