JAMMU: A group of students of GGM Science College held a protest in Jammu on Friday against loudspeakers installed near their college and demanded removal of the same as per resolution passed by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), after which Police rushed to the spot and detained some of the protesting students.
Condemning action of Police against students protesting for a genuine cause as same disturb their studies, President IkkJutt Jammu Adv Ankur Sharma flayed UT administration and J&K Police for its failure to implement Jammu Municipal Corporation’s resolution regarding ban on illegally installed loudspeakers within limits of Corporation besides initiating action against protesting students of GGM Science college, who were demanding action against illegally installed loudspeakers as same disturb their studies.
Expressing his views on Twitter, Sharma said, “SO-30 of 2021 puts a ‘Blanket Ban’ on use of Loud Speakers sans Sound Limiters. Instead of taking Legal Action against the Masjid Management for installing Illegal Loudspeakers blaring high decibel sound in Science College, @JmuKmrPolice arrested protesting students.”
