Stringent measures to check pollution in industrial areas: Ganga

SRINAGAR: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga on Wednesday said that government has taken stringent measures to check pollution in the industrial premises areas of Kashmir valley.
The minister while replying to supplementaries by some member in the Legislative Assembly said “We are in consultation with the Forest, Environment and Ecology Ministry, which has given two months deadline to industrial units for installing pollution checking instruments.”
He assured that government will call a meeting with industrialists soon.
“Whatever Government has to do on developmental side, we will do and whatever is to be done under CSR, we will get it done,” Ganga ended.
Replying to the main question of Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Ganga said that the Department of Geology and Mining has collected Rs 27.50 crore as royalty from the cement factories in Khrew and Khunmoh areas during the last three years. The minister also informed the House that Industries and Commerce Department (Geology and Mining Department) have collected Rs 3.98 crore during last three years from the Quarries at Pantha Chowk, Athwajan, Zewan, Khunmoh and Khrew areas of Sonawar constituency.
