Stray animals pose threat to the lives of passersby

0 88

Dear Editor,
Stray animals like cow, buffalo, and cats which keep roaming freely on the roads cause threat to moving vehicles. It’s a major problem faced by we people these days. These animals not only slow down the traffic but also cause road accidents as the two wheelers lose their balance by applying sudden breaks to avoid collision with the stray animals.
It is a common sight to see stray animals loitering around and even occupying the middle of the road. This disrupts traffic flow and often leads to traffic jams. Many times, bulls lock horns on the roads and pose threat to the lives of the passersby.
Stray cattle not only block roads but also try to maul passers-by many a time. Many accidents were reported when drivers failed to notice dark-coloured cattle, which camouflage with dim light. Further, cattle in groups could be found squatting in the middle of roads creating chaos.
In the absence of a long-term policy to rehabilitate stray animals, national highway and other busy roads of the city have become resting places for such stray animals. The problem of stray animals causes a lot of discomfort to the citizens.
