‘Stop demolation of Chopra Nursing Home at GMC’
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: To express deep concern over demolishing and converting Chopra Nuring Home, which is part of the GMC, into emergency ward without any cabinet approval, National Conference leader, Gurnam Singh said government deprived employees for reimbursement of their medical expenses for which they are entitled if they get treatment and surgeries in the nursing home where very less rates are charged as compared to private nursing homes.
By taking decisions to convert Chopra Nuring Home into emergency ward by damaging operation theatres rooms and other infrastructure, Gurnam said, the Health Minister seems to be favouring nursing homes there by causing lot of loss to the State exchequer.
President Akali Dal, S Gajan Singh said that Chopra Nursing Home was established in the name of Sir Col R.N Chopra in the early 80’s. The then Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah inaugurated it in the name of sir Col R.N Chopra.
But the present Health Minister on 22nd January, 2017 in a hush hush manner put his name plate to illegally convert the nursing home into emergency ward, he said.
President, Shiv Shakti Sena, Rakesh Kumar said that instead of doing this minister should remove private medical shops which are using rent free space and electricity inside the complex and are earning huge profit or their private propertiers and should utilise that space for extension of Emergency Ward.
“In case the minister concerned and State Government do not stop damaging to the nursing home then we will resort to great struggle and other means at the risk and cost of administration and government,” they warned.
