Stone-pelting youths clash with security forces in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Youths waving Pakistani flags on Friday clashed with security forces and pelted stones after Friday prayers at several places in old Srinagar city. Young boys with their faces covered were carrying green and white Pakistani flags as several dozen youths raised slogans after Friday prayers ended at Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the city, a police official said.
He said the youths also hurled stones at security personnel who used tear smoke shells and batons to chase away the miscreants.
The clashes were going on till last reports came in but there were no reports of any casualties so far, the official said. Stone-pelting incidents were also reported from several other places in north Kashmir and south Kashmir, he added.

Restrictions imposed around encounter sites
BARAMULLA: District Magistrates of Baramulla and Kulgam on Friday imposed restrictions under Section 144 Cr.PC on the movement of people around the site of any counter-insurgency operations within the jurisdiction of these districts.
In Baramulla, DM Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash imposed restrictions within the radius of 3 km from the site of any counter-insurgency operations for a period of 60 days.
In Kulgam, DM Showkat Aijaz Bhat issued the advisory on the movement of people within the radius of 1.5 km from any encounter sites.
It was said that the restrictions have been imposed as an anticipatory measure for the safety and security of the general public and to avoid any untoward accident during counter-insurgency operations.
Further, in case of any exigency, locals can seek assistance of the concerned district administrations or police authorities. However these restrictions shall not apply to the movement of ambulances, medical, paramedical staff and government employees.
