Solidarity in the name of Islam and Jihad has a worldwide canvas and support from all over the Islamic world. India must keep in mind this uncomfortable scenario while negotiating with Pakistan and chalking out the strategy on Kashmir. It needs an Indian Alexander to untie the Gordian knot, and, we have none. Modi’s warm handshakes, bear hugs and exchange of pleasantries are just protocol and nothing beyond. One has to be a skilled statesman to handle such situations with a whale-size grey matter, and not 56-inch chest. We have failed in foreign policy towards Nepal, China and Pakistan. The Hindutva factor in Kashmir is new, but the J and K problem has been sticking menacingly for decades.
