State TT meet inaugurated

JAMMU: Chief Sports Officer (CSO) of the State Sports Council, Abdul Qayoom on Tuesday declared open the 38th Stag J and K State Table Tennis Championships, organised by J and K Table Tennis Association, at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
He encouraged the participants and laid emphasis on spreading the game to more parts of the state by holding district level competitions throughout. The opening day competition was also witnessed by Joint Secretary of the State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Earlier, around 220 participants from all around the state confirmed their participation this five-day long championship.
In the Cadet (under-12) boys’ competition in the preliminary round, Vivek beat Ceyl 2-1 while Harman outplayed Mohd Zafar 2-0 and Sarthak trounced Jaskaran 2-1. In other matches, Salin defeated Pranay Sharma 2-0 and Karmanya Wahi outplayed Shiveen Aggarwal 2-0.
The matches were officiated by the technical panel including Sandeep Khadotra and Meenu Rajesh.
Prominent among others present were Sanjay Wahi, Satbir singh, Rajan Sharma, I.P Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Vasu Dewan, Anil Dutta, Gurvinder Singh Sasan, Sandeep Khadotra, Shorya Sharma, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra , Sanjeev Gupta, Ashok Singh (Manager Sports Council and Narinder Singh).
