State level tourney for CM’s Cup;NCC makes it 6-wkt win on way to semis

JAMMU: National Cricket Club (NCC) on Saturday qualified for the semifinals of the First State level (50 overs) Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, organised by J and K State Sports Council at Country Cricket Academy, Ghrotra, near here.
In the first quarterfinal of the event, NCC defeated Rainawari Cricket Club by six wickets. Earlier, batting first, Rainawari made 190 runs losing all their wickets in 46.5 overs.
Vikarsh Kaw missed his half century contributing 49 runs while Bandeep Singh (33), Nitin Manhas (30), Nipun Verma (24) and Puneet Wattal (22) being other main contributors to the total. For NCC, Vijay Dogra bowled good line and length to take away four wickets, followed by Deepak Manhas, who took three. In reply, NCC overhauled the opponent total made 191 runs for four wickets in 32.4 overs. Manish Dogra played fine innings of 68 runs to help the side win the tie. Manish Dogra also completed his half century with 58 runs in his account. Rompy Sharma bagged two wickets for Rainwari Club.
For his all round performance of four wickets and 58 runs, Vijay Dogra was declared Man of the Match.
Today’s quarterfinal was witnessed besides others by former J and K skippers, Kanwaljeet Singh and Sanjay Sharma while Sandeep Singh was match observer. Cricket coach of J and K State Sports Council, Randhir Singh was also present.
