Samba, Jammu win opening tie
REASI: Samba District outplayed Kulgam District by 2-0 in the opening match of two days State Level Inter District under-19 Volleyball Tournament for girls, declared open by Shiv Kumar Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi, here on Wednesday. In second match of the day, Jammu District outplayed Ganderbal by 2-0.
Shiv Kumar, who was also the Chief Guest, stressed the importance of games and sports in the overall development of players especially for the girls.
He also encouraged the initiative of the District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Dr S.S Chib for the promotion of sports in the district.
The Commanding Officer 61-RR, Pradeep Balhara, the Guest of Honour, ensured the Department of Youth Services and Sports that armed forces will provide every possible help to them for promoting sports activities.
Medical Superintendent Reasi, Dr. Vijay Sahni was the Special Guest on the occasion.
Others presented on the opening ceremony were the Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School Reasi, M.M Khajuria, Headmaster HS Kambal Danga Romail Singh, Subedar Surinder Sharma, Lecturer Romesh Singh Jasritia, Sanjeev Verma and Nadeem Bhat.
