State level cricket tourney for CM’s Cup;NCC makes it 18 runs win against BRSC

JAMMU: National Cricket Club (NCC) on Thursday saved a possible defeat in the hands of Brigadier Rajinder Singh Club (BRSC) when they beat latter by 18 runs to advance in the next round of the ongoing First State level cricket tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup at Country Cricket Academy, Gharota, near here.
Earlier, batting first, the star-studded side of NCC was bowled out for 163 runs in 36 runs. Manish Dogra (15), Abdul Samad (33), Amrit Pal Singh (20), Deepak Manhas (23) and Gokul Baru (21) remained main contributors to the total. For BRSC, Nushad Ali emerged as most successful bowler with four wickets, followed by Jagtar Singh, who claimed three and Davinder Sharma one.
In reply, BRSC made a good start but could not hold their nerves and started giving away wickets on regular intervals which resulted into the whole side was bundling out in 25th over for 145 to lose the tie. Salim was top scorer with 32 runs. Vijay Dogra bowled extremely well taking away five wickets while Deepak bagged four.
For his five wickets haul, Vijay was obvious choice for the Man of the Match title. Today’s match was officiated by the technical panel comprising Ashok Singh, Rajinder Singh and Sandeep Singh (third umpire) as Umpires while Swastik Sharma was Scorer.
