State hockey c’ship begins

JAMMU: Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Hockey Association and sponsored by J and K State Sports Council, the State Championship started on Thursday at K K Hakhu Stadium, here.
The opening day witnessed four matches among teams from Kashmir and Jammu Provinces. The event was declared open by a city businessman, Rajeev Sharma, who was Chief Guest. He interacted with the participating teams. Social worker, R.G.N Wani was Guest of Honour. The Results: Kathua beat Pulwama 5-0; BSF Jammu defeated Poonch 5-2; Jammu Cantonment blanked Shopian 5-0; Baramulla trounced Jammu Central
2-1.
