State Games for differently-abled conclude

JAMMU: State Games for persons with disabilities in which about 307 special athletes excelling in various district games held at Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi participated, concluded at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here on Thursday.
In the concluding ceremony, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Traffic, Shafqat Watali, was the Chief Guest who presented medals and certificates of excellence to the winners and participants.
The Chief Guest greeted the special athletes and their escorts, guardians, coaches and organisers for efforts to add harmony in the lives of special athletes who can never dream to participate in such big programmes.
“It is needed that all people from all sections of society must come forward to strengthen such a wonderful movement,” IGP urged. He also stressed that people in all capacities should become a part to sensitise the masses. Chief of Sewa Bharti J and K, Dada Ji also blessed the special athletes during the event.
G.R Bhagat, former Deputy Commissioner was the Guest of Honour who also blessed the special children. The dignitaries who addressed and graced the concluding function were Joint Secretary J and K Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma, District Sports Officer D.C Thakur, Sandip Beri Joint Secretary, Rotary Club, Arun Ninawat, Raj Bharti Founder Viraj Bal Bhawan, Dr Kusum Chanjotra, University of Jammu, Zonal Sports Officers namely Tarsem Singh, Om Paraksh, Manohar Lal, Rajinder Kotwal, Manhas President J and K Handicapped Welfare Association, K.K Verma former President J and K Handicapped Welfare Association. S.P Verma, Colonel Ajay Looma Co -5 GP Sector also dispatched wishes for special athletes.
About 60 coaches from all districts also participated besides athletics players Shajia, Nilofar and Benazir were also present.
Cultural programmes also entertained the participants by renowned TV and Radio artists to include Mahesh Kotwal, Suraj Sharma, Avtar Kour, Santosh Bandral and Taniya.
The District Co-ordinator who coordinated all districts were Dr Khemraj Sharma, Samba, Tara Chand Sharma, Udhampur, Rakesh Kumar, Reasi, Sunil Sharma, Kathua and Gurmeet Singh.
The events conducted were Boccee, badminton, wheel chair race, softball throw, 100 mtr race, 50 mtr race, zig-zag dribbling, run and kick and shooting.
Ashwani Jojra State President, SOB J and K Chapter presented welcome and keynote address and Raj Kumar Sharma presented vote of thanks. Jatin Chanjotra Programme Manager, Dr M.L Rana BMO Sohanjana and Clinical Director Health Promotion SOB J and K conducted the proceedings of programme. Kamaljeet Kour Sports Incharge conducted all events.
