JAMMU: District Udhampur outplayed the formidable side of NGR Club in the inaugural match of the Jammu Chapter of the State Football Championship, organised by J and K Football Association, at GGM Science College Ground, here on Sunday.
Earlier, in the stipulated time, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. However, the tie-breaker too could not yield results thus making it to the sudden death. In sudden death, Udhampur managed to take lead thus clinched the thriller making it a 8-7 win.
In the match time, Tushar Sharma took the first lead netting the ball in the 54th minute for Udhampur. The score was levelled by NGR only in the 70th minute. Suresh Gupta, Rakesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Ricky and Mohinder Kalsi officiated the opening match.
The event was declared open by Principal of GGM Science College, Prof Ajeet Angral, who along with R.K Kohli, Sheikh Mehmood, S.M Gill, Kuldeep Singh and Mohan Lal interacted with the teams.
Also present were David Masih, Yousuf Don, Virinder Gupta, Charan Dass, Bharat Bhushan, Rajesh Sumbria, Romesh Chander and Narinder Gupta.
