STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Newly elected members of J and K State Dental Council (JKSDC) on Saturday met Health and Medical Education Minister, Bali Bhagat and discussed the problems being faced by the dentists of J and K.
The delegation comprising Dr Bhupinder Singh and Dr Aayush Sharma, both JKSDC members along with Dr Rajiv Mengi, President IDA Jammu and Dr Gautam Sharma who is Dental Surgeon at University of Jammu and Ex-President IDA Jammu asked the Health Minister to order the Health Department to conduct raids on the shops run by dental quacks instead of dental clinics run by qualified dental surgeons.
The team apprised the minister that the clinics which are unregistered but run by qualified doctors will be registered in due course of time once the JKSDC is constituted as High Court of Jammu and Kashmir has stayed the list of JKSDC members nominated by the State Government.
They also told the minister that there should be a government order that once a dental clinic is registered with JK State Dental Council, there should be no need to register it with the Labour Department of the State.
While discussing the saturation of dentists, they requested the minister to create new posts of dental surgeons in the state and to provide interest free loans to unemployed dentists as a start up to open their private clinics.
Bali Bhagat agreed to the demands and said that these genuine demands will be met in time bound manner. He also congratulated the new elected members of SDC and Dr Gautam Sharma for getting award in recognition of his exemplary service towards IDA and outstanding contribution to the civil society during his tenure as the president of Jammu branch by conducting more than 200 free dental check-up camps.
