Dear Editor,
Post the ‘tough stand’ by security forces, the new
political initiative by the ruling BJP-led dispensation in New Delhi to engage all sections of Kashmiri society for restoring normalcy in the State is a welcome move.
Umpteen such attempts in the past have proved abortive as the parties in power, both at the Central and State levels, could not rise above vote-bank politics and ensure governance free of corruption, incompetence, communalism and militant violence.
Amid the prevailing congenial situation in the Valley, we need to display a strong political will and adopt a clear-cut, well-orchestrated policy to win back the
confidence of the people and tackle separatists and their sympathisers in Pakistan without compromising on our national security.
