SSP distributes aid among flood affected students

POONCH: Continuing with the mission of J and K Police of providing relief and rehabilitation to flood effected families, District Police Poonch on Saturday provided uniforms, stationery items, books and school bags to about 50 students of different schools whose houses were damaged during the flood and all the belongings including books / uniforms were washed away by the strong current of river water. Earlier also food items and blankets were distributed by the District Police Poonch besides providing of food and drinking water in flood affected areas.
Shamsheer Hussain, SSP Poonch while speaking on the occasion highlighted the role of District Police Poonch for organising of sports activities, musical concerts and other community oriented programmes with an aim to channelise the energy of the youth of the area and helping the down trodden sections of the society. He advised the flood affected students for working hard and inculcating themselves the moral values for excelling in all spheres of life. He assured the students that police is ready to provide all type of assistance so that their study may not suffer due to lack of uniform and books.
Amit Gupta-ASP Poonch, Khalid Amin DySP DAR-DPL Poonch, Deepak Digra-DySP Hqrs. Poonch, Principal Boys / Girls Hr. Secondary School Poonch, Principal Zia Ul Uloom High School, Principal Islamia School Poonch, Principal Indira Memorial School, Principal Star Academy High School, Headmaster High School Purani Poonch were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, carrying forward relief/rehabilitation drive in flood affected areas, police, with a pledge to extend solace to the residents of flood affected areas especially to make the educational institutions properly functional, maintained their educational institutes at Saidgarh, Shibu Chak in Bishnah and Kullian in Miran Sahib area for the benefit of school children. Blankets were also distributed among flood affected populace in these areas as well. The overgrowth grass and trees were also cleared in the adjoining areas. The road and surrounding area of Shamshaan Ghat in Kullian was also maintained and make it worth to walk which was badly affected during heavy rains.
