SSH’s CTVS Deptt organises CME & “Vascular Anastomosis course”
JAMMU: The Deptt of CTVS,SSH organised one day CME & workshop on ‘Vascular Anastomosis’. It was inaugurated by the Principal and Dean Govt Medical College Jammu Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma. While speaking on the occassion, She appreciated the efforts of the Deptt. of CTVS & asked the Organizing Secretary Dr Arvind Kohli to make the course a regular affair for imparting these skills to the post graduates, Registrars and DNB trainees.
She advised the Medical superintendent Dr Manoj Chalortra to explore the feasibility of creating a skill lab. in the SSH itself. She advised the Deptt. to make a roster for trainings in such a manner so that all the Postgraduates of Surgical disciplines after joining the Institute complete the course by the end of first year. More than 75 delegates registered for this course which included teaching tutorials by luminaries of vascular surgery from around world and India like Dr Nandan Haldipur and Dr Willy Pillai from Doncaster UK, Dr VS Bedi Chairman IVES from SGRH New Delhi and Dr. Gurjit Singh ex HOD CTVS GMC, Jammu. The experts explained about principles of vascular suturing. instruments and exposures of major vessels and vascular control and techniques of vascular suturing. In the 2nd half, the delegates got hands on training on vascular suturing on work stations and were taught skills by faculty comprising of Dr I A Mir Dr Arvind Kohli, Dr Shyam singh Dr Mohit Arora Dr Vivek Gandotra Dr Javed Bandey and Dr Rouf Gul. Dr Noor Ali Principal GMC Doda & HoD CTVS appreciated the efforts of the Faculty for conducting of the Vascular course.
Dr Arvind Kohli emphasized the need for skill enhancement of the trainee doctors and said these hands on courses are very important in the career and skill learning of the trainees. HoDs of Cardiology, Urology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics & Senior Faculty were also present on the occassion & complimented the Deptt. for conducting the CME & the workshop.
