STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Reiterating their demand of releases of pending dues, the volunteer retired employees of SRTC, on Friday held a protest near Press Club, here. The protesting retired employees raised slogans in support of their demands, which include release of Sixth Pay Commission arrears, COLA arrears since 1999 and pension benefits. The protest, held under the banner of All J and K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association, was led by its President, Dev Raj Bali.
Speaking on the occasion, Bali said that the State Government was not releasing their dues for the last more than six years.
“14 VRS employees have passed away during this period of struggle as they could not afford the medical treatment because of non-payment of arrears,” he mentioned.
Bali said that the government had made commitment to settle the accounts of VRS/GHS employees within 60 days but the same has not been done even after six years.
He strongly criticised the attitude of the State Government for not implementing the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations in the State whereas the Central Government has ordered for the Seventh Pay Commission implementation.
He urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally intervene into their case for release of the dues.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by Surinder Singh-General Secretary, J.D Singh, Bindravan Sharma, Balwinder Singh and Gulshan Singh.
