JAMMU: All J and K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association on Monday staged a protest at Gandhi Nagar here, against previous and ruling State Government for not clearing their pending dues.
Addressing the protesting employees, Union President, Dev Raj Bali, criticised the previous government for duping them by denying all benefits.
“We strongly criticise the attitude of the previous State Government for not fulfilling the promise which was made with them regarding the one time settlement of their dues despite our struggle for the same for last so many years,” Bali said adding they have been cheated by the government by giving them false promises despite the Central funds were released.
“It is very strange that 126 slabs of COLA was given to the in-service employees of State SRTC whereas same has been denied to 742 VRS/GHS employees despite the fact that they were in service at the time of implementation of Sixth Pay Commission,” said Bali.
He appealed to Finance Department to put their case in the ensuing Budget session which is going to be held from 25th May so that their liability be cleared in all respects.
They demanded release of Sixth Pay Commission arrears from 1st January, 2006, Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) from the year 1999, pension benefits and implementation of SRO-43 .
In the protest among others present were Balwinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Kulbir Singh, Dwarka Nath, B.B Sharma, Prem Nath, Sain Mohd and Gulshan Singh.
