JAMMU: Hitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) particularly Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, who also holds the portfolio of Minister for Power Development Department (PDD), State President, Shri Ram Sena (SRS), Rajiv Mahajan said due to non serious attitude of PDD Minister towards Jammuites power crisis gripped the city in entire summer season.
Residents of New Rehari area were facing hardships as the electricity was playing hide and seek with them, Rajiv said and added that they hardly get a sigh of relief though it is fully metered area. With the mercury soaring, he said the power cuts were making the heat unbearable. “There is power disruption and the sweltering heat is making matters worse. The senior citizens and children are the worst affected. In some places, people have even fainted,” he mentioned. To cope with the unscheduled cuts, some residents are relying on generator sets or battery-run invertors to get some relief from heat and humidity, he said adding that even inverters had stopped running in certain areas of the city since there was no power to recharge their batteries. He said the condition of those, who do not have an invertor in their home, was worst due the power cut.
He asked PDD Minister to solve the issue at the earliest and provide uninterrupted power supply in the area so that residents heave a sigh of relief.
