JAMMU: While appreciating the initiative taken by the Minister for Forests and Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat for retrieving the encroached forest land from the land grabbers, Shri Ram Sena, Jammu and Kashmir state president, Rajiv Mahajan urged the minister to retrieve all encroached land from grabbers in a time bound period.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Rajiv Mahajan said that the government initiative for retrieving the illegally encroached land from encroachers is in right perspective in view of global warming and for maintaining the environment healthy. He urged the minister Bali Bhagat to accelerate the drive so that the entire encroached land can be retrieved in the minimum shortest period.

Mahajan said and added that land mafia at behest of some politicians and bureaucrats are involved in such land grabbing. He asked the minister to fix dead line for clearing all encroachments irrespective of caste, creed and status of the encroacher.

Citing a fresh development of coming up of an illegal colony near 4th Tawi bridge, Mahajan feels astonished that how the colony came to existence and who provided those people permission of construction on government land. Not to speak of the establishment of colony clandestinely, a 30 feet wide road after breaking the railings from middle of the bridge has been constructed towards colony, said Mahajan.

Mahajan appealed the forest minister to hold a high-level inquiry in the whole episode, demolish all illegal constructions and retrieve encroached land from the grabbers. Mahajan also demanded the arrest of the persons (political leaders, bureaucrats, government employees) found involved in the establishment of illegal colony near 4th Tawi bridge.
