JAMMU: A large number of PHE daily wagers, ITI trained and CP workers, who are on Kaam Chhoro Hartal for the last 73 days, on Tuesday under the banner of All J and K PHE, ITI Trained and CP Workers Association assembled at BC Road Office of the Chief Engineer in the morning and took out march towards Srinagar to Gherao Secretariat. They blocked Jammu-Udhampur National Highway for half an hour near Nagrota. The agitating workers are demanding to frame proper policy for their regularisation and release of their pending wages. They alleged that government has turned a deaf ear towards their plight.
Provincial President of the Association, Tanveer Hussain alleged that despite assurance given by Minister for PHE and senior officers, their demands have not been met. Many of them have been working for the last 15-20 years but they are still waiting for their regularisation. He said the workers will be forced to stop water supply if the issue was not resolved during coming Assembly session at Srinagar.
