Sports Council XI enters semis of CM’s Cup

JAMMU: The hosts State Sports Council XI on Tuesday entered into the semifinals of the ongoing First State level Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup at Country Cricket Academy (CCA), village Gharota, near here.
Newly appointed cricket coach of the Sports Council, Abid Nabi was instrumental in team’s big 85 runs win against Zabarwan Cricket Club Srinagar. For his all round performance of 55 runs and two wickets, Abid was declared Man of the Match.
Earlier, batting first, Sports Council XI set a target of 212 runs losing all their wickets in 33 overs. Abid Nabi played fine innings of 55 runs while Khalid contributed 57. Manzoor Pandav added seven-ball 24 runs while Zahid made 20 runs. For Zabarwan Club, Sajjad claimed four wickets, followed by Irfan and Muneed with three and two wickets respectively.
In reply, Zabarwan was bowled out for 126 runs in 23 overs. Aashiq and Nayeem were only batsmen to score in double figure with 29 and 12 runs respectively. Now, Sports Council shall take on Simula Sports Club in the semifinals scheduled for 30th March. Today’s quarterfinal was officiated by Dimple Gupta and Sadiq Hussain as Umpires.
