Sports Council XI beats Simula to enter final of CM Cup

JAMMU: Sports Council XI on Thursday made it to the final of the ongoing First State level Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, organised by J and K State Sports Council at Country Cricket Academy, village Gharota, near here.
Mehjoor Ali Sofi took six wickets to emerge as Man of the Match in the semifinal. With today’s haul of six, Mehjoor has become highest wicket taker in the competition.
In the semifinal, Sports Council defeated equally good Simula Sports Club by 59 runs. Batting first, Sports Council XI set a target of 189 runs losing all their wickets in 42.2 overs. Skipper, Abid Nabi contributed 51 runs while Manzoor Dar added same 51 runs to the total.
For Simula, Satish Kumar bagged five wickets, including the dismissals of Pankaj Ladda (5), Sameer Ali (1) and
Sahil (0). Shashi Kumar took two wickets while Raman bagged one.
In reply, Simula could not chase and was bundled out for 130 runs. Atul Sharma (31), Hardeep Singh (17) Shashi Kumar (21) Vivek Thappa (17) and Puneet (20).
Three of the Simula batsmen were out for a duck. After Satish (five wickets), Mujtaba Rizvi was another successful bowler with two wickets while Nadeem Dar claimed one.
Now, the Sports Council XI shall take on Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) in the final. Sadiq Hussain and Amit Gupta were umpires in today’s semifinals.
