SPO honourarium: Another poll promise fulfilled, says BJP
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Stating that the Narendra Modi led NDA government has fulfilled one more promise made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, BJP State President and MLA Sat Sharma said that the Special Police Officers (SPO) got a gift on first day of the new year, as their monthly honorarium has been doubled from rupees 3,000 to 6,000 by the Union Home Ministry.
Sat said that the BJP had been repeatedly raising the demand of enhancement of the honorarium of SPOs and the previous UPA Government did not accede it on the pretext of financial crunch, while the present BJP led NDA has cleared it, which itself shows the concern of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh towards these people.
The BJP State President said that the SPOs in Jammu and Kashmir have been doing a splendid work of extending help to the army and security forces in fight against the terrorists in hilly and far flung areas of the State in particular.
Although some people had migrated from their native places in early days of militancy to escape their physical liquidation, it was due to the presence of these SPOs which had induced a sense of security and hence massive migration was controlled and the credit goes to the SPOs.
“The enhancement in the honorarium will further boost the morale of SPOs who have been doing exemplary works and played important role in killing of a number of dreaded militants besides helping in identification and busting the hide outs”, Sat Sharma said and added that most of the militancy infested areas have been cleared of the terror and the contribution of SPOs in doing so has been marvelous. He expressed hope that the SPOs will continue to contribute towards fighting the militancy and make their areas totally safe and secure for the people.
