SPO among seven charge-sheeted in J&K Bank robbery case

JAMMU: Seven robbers, including a Special Police Official (SPO), have been charge-sheeted for their involvement in a sensational J&K Bank robbery case of 2009, wherein Rs.1,06,48,000 were looted after breaking the locks of strong room.
The Crime Branch Jammu produced charge-sheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kishtwar which posted the matter for hearing on May 30, 2016.FIR 99/2009 was registered on July 8, 2009.
Meanwhile, the CB has recommended departmental action against the Bank Manager and other staffers for keeping such a huge amount in the strong room violating the rules and regulations.
SPO Shahid Hussian Bhat, then posted at Kishtwar Police Station, among others, had hatched the conspiracy to loot the bank. Shahid was later disengaged from the service.
According to the case history, one Shamas-u-Din, son of Fateh Mohd, resident of Maitra, Ramban, Branch Manager, J&K Bank Branch Kishtwar lodged a written complaint in Police Station, Kishtwar saying that during the intervening night of July 7 and 8, 2009, some burglars entered the bank by breaking its second shutter. “They broke the chest of the bank and looted Rs.1,06,48,000”, the complaint stated
Upon this report, FIR 99/09 under section 457, 380 RPC was registered at Police Station Kishtwar and a Special Investigating Team (SIT) was constituted.
The investigation of the case was thereafter transferred to Crime Branch, Jammu vide PHQ order No. 207 of 2010 dated January 16, 2010.
During the course of investigation of the case at Crime Branch, Jammu all the suspects were identified and interrogated/questioned thoroughly and as per the investigation conducted offences under section 457, 380, 395, 120-B RPC were proved against accused persons namely Zahoor-ul-Hassan Kamal, son of Wali Mohammad Kamal, resident of Kamal Mohalla Kishtwar, (from whom an amount of Rs 25, 79, 900 was recovered), Shahid Hussian Bhat( SPO), son of Mohd. Ramzan Bhat, resident of Nagarana Keshwan District Kishtwar(from whom an amount of Rs. 2, 02,600 was recovered), Mohd Aslam Code Col Zubair, son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, resident of LianKishtwar(from whom an amount of Rs. 5,31,400 was recovered), Mehboob Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi Rather, resident of Jamia Masjid Mohalla, Bank Gali Kishtwar(from whom an amount of Rs. 5, 67, 000 was recovered), Shahid Hussian Rather, son of Abdual Rahim Rather, resident of Sirgwari Kishtwar (from whom an amount of Rs. 5,84,160 was recovered), Farooq Ahmed Kripak, son of Abdual Rashid Kripak, resident of Keshwan at present Samia Colony Kishtwar(from whom an amount of Rs. 2,80,000 was recovered) and Jaffer Hussian Ganie, son of Abdual Majid Ganie, resident of Haji Mohalla, Sultanpur, Bhaderwah at present Malipath Kishtwar (from whom an amount of Rs. 3,98,350 was recovered).
All the accused persons had, in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy executed the burglary in the J&K, Bank Branch Kishtwar in a well planned manner after breaking the shutters of the strong room and had looted an amount of Rs. 1,06,48,000.
