Spic Macay appoints Yaseen as J&K Media Coordinator

JAMMU: Mohd Yaseen-National Scholarship and Fellowship Holder from Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has been appointed as J&K Media Coordinator of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by Spic Macay.
As per the letter from State Coordinator Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Yaseen has been appointed for the period of two years.
The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a voluntary youth movement which promotes intangible aspects of Indian cultural heritage by promoting Indian classical music, classical dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture; it is a movement with chapters in over 300 towns all over the world. SPIC MACAY was established by Dr. Kiran Seth in 1977 at IIT Delhi.
As per the handout, Mohd Yaseen is a promising theatre artist who stepped into theatre as a child artist at Natrang’s Children camp in the year 2001 and acted in more than 70 plays with 400 performances till date staged at State, Zonal and National/International theatre festivals.
A National Scholarship holder for 2 years (2011-2013) from the Ministry of Culture Government of India for folk/traditional and indigenous arts in which he learnt the nuances of this great living tradition of theatre called Bhand Pather.
He has also participated in more than 40 National Theatre Festivals and have the privilege to had been a salient part of 15 member group of artists who participated in Jammu and Kashmir Festival held at London in the year 2016.He had also been a privileged coordinator/technician as well as an eminent volunteer in great festivals like, “Natya Samagama” organised by Sangeet Natak Akademi at Jammu. In the year 2020, he got an opportunity to coordinate International Theatre Talk Show which featured 51 theatre personalities all over the globe followed by National Theatre Talk Show featuring 50 young theatre practitioners of India in the year 2021.
A proud participant of 16 Days Online Acting Workshop for Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh resident’s organised by National School of Drama New Delhi, Yaseen has also directed four plays viz. Mulaqaat written by Vaclev Havel, Aadhi Raat Ke Baad written by Shanker Shesh, Peele Scooter Wala Aadmi written by Manav Kaul and Les Justis written by Albert Camus with the name ‘Jayaz Hathyaare’.
Yaseen is very ambitious in pursuing theatre as his career and reviving folk culture in theatre grounds. He also writes as an art critic for dailies.
A proud participant of Eight Theatre Olympics, 2018, Yaseen Presently working with Natrang as Head of Media (Electronic & Print) from the last 8years besides freelancer with The Times of India.
