Special Crime Wing Jammu files charge-sheet against fraud case committed through social media

JAMMU: The Special Crime Wing, Jammu of Crime Branch J&K on Saturday filed a chargesheet against the two accused persons in FIR No. 15/2022 under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC which was registered at Police Station SCW Jammu.
“A chargesheet was filed against Tarun Shekhar Sharma, son of Chander Shekhar Sharma, resident of 538/717 Alok Nagar, Sitapur Road, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), and Asha Singh alias Bhavana, daughter of Tahendra Pal Singh, resident of J-250, Sector-12, Pratap Vihar, Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), at present R/o 500-A, Street No. 07, Nangloi Ashok Mohalla, Bakkarwala, Delhi,” the official said.
The duo allegedly executed a fraud scheme inspired by the Bollywood movie “Bunty Aur Babli.”
Sharing details of the case, Sanjay Parihar, SSP Special Crime Wing, Jammu, informed that the investigation of the case has been conducted by Inspector Kali Charan, who today formally presented the chargesheet before the Court of Sub Judge, Passenger Tax, Jammu for judicial determination.
“The case originated from a written complaint filed by the complainant alleging that the accused came into contact with her through a social media application and deceitfully convinced her that they had the capability to help her become a model on Fashion TV. On this false pretext, they cheated her by taking away her hard earned money to the tune of Rs. 9 Lakhs and 90 Thousands, by promising a fictitious multi-crore Fashion TV project,” Sanjay Parihar said.
Following a thorough and professional investigation, Parihar said, the allegations were found to be well-substantiated.
After sustained efforts, both accused were traced, arrested, and interrogated, during which they confessed to their criminal involvement, Parihar said adding that subsequently, they were lodged in Tihar Jail, Delhi, as they were found involved in other similar nature case registered with Delhi police.
