Speaker directs for speedy rehabilitation of affected families
SRINAGAR: To take stock of relief and rehabilitation measures started in flood affected areas of Srinagar, the Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Noorbagh, Palpora, Pamposh Colony, Guzzarbal and other areas of the Eidgah constituency and inspected various residential buildings affected by the flood.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmed Shah, officers of R&B, SMC, Irrigation and Flood Control, PHE, PDD and other departments accompanied the Speaker.
The Speaker expressed his sympathy with the affected families and assured them that every possible help will be provided by the government to them for their rehabilitation.
Addressing series of gatherings, the Speaker said that government has initiated rehabilitation and relief measures on war-footing basis while Chief Minister is personally monitoring it. He said Chief Minister has directed for speedy and transparent rehabilitation measures to ease out the sufferings of affected people.
On the occasion, the Speaker lauded the role of local youth for helping the people during flood by organizing relief and rescue operations.
The Speaker said that various development works are underway in Noorbagh areas and directed the concerned authorities to speed up the pace of these works. He directed Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to set up vertical pump at Kreshbal and take necessary measures for strengthening Noorbagh-Bakshipora bund.
He also directed for adequate supply of ration and other basic amenities in flood affected areas.
