JAMMU: Soham Kamotra bagged the under-15 boys’ title in the ongoing selection events of Jammu Division Chess Tournament, organised by All J and K Chess Association, at Ace Chess Academy here on Tuesday.
Second place went to Jaiveer Singh Gujral while Akashdeep finished third. In girls section, Meenal Gupta won the under-15 event. Arushi Kotwal and Avni Gupta remained second and third respectively.
Meenal Gupta claimed the girls’ under-19 title. All the matches were officiated by senior player, Sumit Grover and held under the supervision of Association President, Atul Kumar Gupta following the rules played as per International rules under Fide Laws of chess.
Selected players from these events and half selected from Kashmir Division shall represent J and K State in forthcoming Nationals.
Meanwhile, women events and those in under-11 age groups shall take place tomorrow at the same venue.
