Social Forestry launches plantation drive

UDHAMPUR: The Social Forestry , Division Udhampur on Friday carried out a plantation drive in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Jaganoo.
DFO Social Forestry Udhampur, Dr. Rajan Singh was the Chief Guest while J M Tharmat, CEPO was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of plantation ànd advised the students to not only plant more and more saplings but also look after them for making the drive a success.
Dr. Rajan Singh also acquainted the students with different species of plants and their importance.
Stating that students are the best medium for spreading awareness about any important issue, the DFO SF urged them to play an active role in the protection of environment and asked them to save it for the future generations.
During the plantation drive, saplings of several medicinal importance ,ornamental and fruit trees were planted by the Chief Guest , Guest of Honour .All the participants also pledged to plant more and more saplings besides protecting the environment for future generations.
Principal Chanchal Devi thanked the department for launching plantation drive in the premises of school.
She also assured the Chief Guest that all the saplings planted would be taken care of. Sham Lal Sr. Lecturer conducted the proceedings of the program.
Among others, teaching staff, NCC Cadets besides large number of local people participated in the plantation drive.
