One of the announcements in the Railway Budget 2016 is the new system of the cleaning of coaches and toilets where a passenger can request the service using his mobile phone. While it shows the concern the Indian Railways has for passengers, it also denotes the incapability of officials in ensuring the cleanliness of coaches. The message is clear: if you want a clean compartment send a message, otherwise travel as you are. On many an occasion, one finds coaches to be in a terrible condition as far as hygiene is concerned. Do the officials realise this?
