Smasher Club wins open volleyball tournament

GANDERBAL: Smasher Volleyball Club Poonch won the open volleyball tournament held at flood light court at village Korama of District Ganderwal in the Memory of Shaheed Fayaz and Mustaq.
This tournament was organised by civil society of village Korama under aegis of Volleyball Association of J and K in which 32 teams took part.
In the final played today, Smasher Poonch Volleyball Club outplayed Royal Batoo Volleyball Club Srinagar by 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-23).
In the valedictory function, MLA Ganderbal, Ashfaq Jabbar was the Chief Guest and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volleyball Association of J and K, Kuldip Magotra was the Guest of Honour who gave away trophies and cash prize to winner and runner up teams besides individual prizes to the best players. A cash prize of Rs 5,000 was given to winner team while Rs 2500 was given to runner up team. Volleyball Association of J and K also gave Rs 5000 to the organizers of the tournament, including R.C Sharma Treasurer of VAJK and Chairman Talent Hunt Committee of VFI Akbar Ali, Office Secretary VAJK. In addition to this, MLA Ganderbal also announced Rs one lakh out of his CDF for the development of infrastructure in the playground of Government Higher Secondary School Korama.
Executive member of VAJK and Chairman Shaheed Manjit Singh Volleyball Club Poonch, Mohd Tariq, SDM Sumbal, G.M Bhat, SHO Kheer Bawani, Mudasar and SHO Lar, Junaid Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
