The slugfest started over the ‘terror boat’ by Congress asking BJP-led NDA Government to come clean is not only baffling but also smells of opportunistic politics. Is it that Congress is trying to tell the world that the neighbour is innocent and it is the Coast Guard which is culprit for stage manning a drama to divert attention? What one presumes is that by raising the bogey Congress is simply trying to garner left over Muslim votes by wooing to play the reverse card after the debacle in Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections. Now immediate are the elections to the Delhi Assembly and one does not need to make out why this outcry. Disarrayed, disillusioned, headless party is finding a shield in accusing the ruling party and speaking a language which does not behove of a national party besides playing “petty politics” on terror. Whether it is infiltration of militants or border firing targeting civilian population Congress was never strong to counter Pakistan’s misadventure in Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress questioned its intentions in handing out source based information instead of putting the facts of the entire incident in the high seas in public domain and sought answers. It also questioned the BJP’s “nervous” reaction to the matter and demanded that the government bring out the facts in a transparent manner to check recurrence of such incidents in future. One cannot differentiate between the voices of the Congress spokespersons and the Pakistani Spokespersons. Yet again the Congress had supplied ammunition to Pakistan. It was “ironic” that instead of standing with the Indian Government and thanking those who protected the country from a “probable terrorist attack”, the Congress chose to be sympathetic towards the probable perpetrators. Was it that Congress just wanted to gain some cheap publicity out of a serious issue or is there more to read? Congress has touched a new low in politics. An attempt has been made to undermine India’s national security and it is obvious people would want to know which is the organisation involved, what exactly happened in the high seas and what exactly the government intends to do to ensure such incidents do not happen in the future.
