Slathia seeks secured shelters for border dwellers

VIJAYPUR: Former Minister and Senior State Vice President National Conference Surjeet Singh Slathia extensively visited the shelling prone areas along International Border and met the people, who have been dislocated due to imminent threat from across the border.
The former minister visited Rangoor Camp, Chak Babral, Nanga, Nathwal, Kandral, Samdoo, Jasso Chak, Dug Jerda, Govind Garh, Chowni and Abtal villages in Ramgarh Sector of Vijaypur Constituency and interacted with the people.
He expressed anguish over lackadaisical approach of the Centre and the State Government in failing to create shelter sheds, promised during the elections, for safety and security of the people in such eventualities. “All the promises have proved to be hoax and the people, especially those living along International Border were feeling terribly let down”, he said. Slathia called for immediate steps to instill confidence among the people and making available all facilities at the make shift places, in the event of dislocation of people from the forward areas. He expressed solidarity with the affected population, saying National Conference shares their agonies at this hour of crisis.
The border dwellers apprised Slathia of their problems, saying the situation arising in the wake of shelling along LoC is a tremendous setback to farmers at this hour of harvesting and students pursuing their academics.Prominent among those who accompanied the former minister and Senior State Vice President included Mohan Lal Sharma, Ram Paul Sharma, Sodagar Gupta, Capt. Tirath Ram, Shiv Ram, Tejinder Singh, Om Parkash and Mohan Singh Bhatti.
