JAMMU: Wife of a slain Lashkar- e-Toibia terrorist was on Thursday detained by police in Mahore area of district Reasi.
Hanifa Begum, wife of slain terrorist Sadam Hussain is reportedly involved in distributing money among the families of the slain terrorists who were killed in various operations besides funding the over ground workers.
Police has recovered Rs 2 lakhs and three mobile sets from the possession of Hanifa Begum.
Sources informed that Hanifa has been subjected to sustained interrogation.
Hanifa’s husband Sadam Hussain was killed in 2009 in an encounter at Mahore area.
Sources said that the police is looking for a module operating in financing the terror activities in the region.
The security forces have succeeded in eliminating several terror modules in Reasi, Mahore, Gulabgarh areas by killing terror commanders of Lashkar-e-Toibia and Hizbul Mujahideen outfits in the recent past. “We have arrested Hanifa Begum, wife of Saddam Hussain who was killed in an encounter in 2009 from Mahore area of the district”, SSP Reasi Sujit Kumar said. “Our initial investigations suggest that she was acting as a courier and the cash was meant to be distributed amongst the OGWs active in the area” the SSP said, adding “investigation is underway.”
