R S PURA: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu on Thursday celebrates World Veterinary Day 2022 at its Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, RS Pura. The day was celebrated with professionals in the veterinary field expressing their commitment to serving the community through livestock sector.The day is widely observed annually on the last Saturday of April, every year across the world, with this year the theme chosen “Strengthening Veterinary Resilience”. Prof. M.S. Bhadwal welcomed the gathering, highlighted the importance of the event and stressed upon enhancing the productivity of animals rather than increasing the number of animals. In today’s event, Prof J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, stressed on applied research, quality human resource development and effective public outreach. He talked upon stress relieving measures and ensures that such extra-curricular activities will be held off and on.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu and Dr. Arun Manhas, MD, JK Agro industries were the chief guest. Mayor Jammu, congratulated and highlighted the contributions of veterinarians in the health of animals and society. He said that Veterinary profession is a profoundly rewarding pursuit and they safeguard animals against illness by protecting those who can suffer but cannot speak. Veterinarians are called upon to ensure these animals have a voice and an advocate who ensures their welfare is a priority. DrArun Manhas, presented the theme related talk and lauded the varsity Scientists for their contributions.
