SKUAST-J enters semifinals of All India Vice Chancellors T-20

LUDHIANA: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) reached into the semifinals of ongoing All India Vice-Chancellors T-20 Cricket Tournament by defeating Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana, in a cliffhanger by seven wickets.
Batting first after winning the toss, PAU was bowled out 139 in 19.2 overs. For SKUAST-J, Manjeet Singh bowled brilliantly and grabbed four important wickets by conceding just 13 runs in his four overs spell. Anoop Kumar and Shamsdin chipped in with two wickets each.
Chasing 140 runs, SKUAST-J lost two quick wickets for 14 runs only. It was then a splendid partnership of 106 runs between Bikram Ram and Vinod which brought the team back into contention.
Bikram Ram scored a match winning knock of 67 runs, Vinod scored 25 runs while Manjeet played a cameo of 15 runs and Naresh chipped in with unbeaten 13 runs.
SKUAST-J needed 14 runs in last over which it achieved with a ball to spare. Manjeet Singh, who finished the match with a towering six, was declared Man of the Match.
SKUAST-JAMMU will face Himachal Pradesh University Shimla in semifinals tomorrow.
Coach of the team, Kewal Raina stated that the secret to the success lies in the hardwork, discipline, unity and the down to earth attitude of team members. Kewal specially thanked Dr Vivak M. Arya who has come all the way from Jammu to support the team.
The Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-J Dr Pradeep Sharma congratulated the team for its extraordinary performance and also wished good luck for the semifinals.
