JAMMU: Police on Monday nabbed six narco smugglers and recovered heroin from their possession.
As per details, a team of Police Station Miran Sahib led by SHO Miran Sahib Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq while on Naka duty at Langotian Miran Sahib rounded up a suspect who was on his way from Shian Chak towards Miran Sahib on his vehicle (JK02CJ 5390). The suspect was identified as Suresh Kumar, son of Mangal Singh, resident of ward No.8, R S Pura. During search, 5 gm heroin was recovered from his possession. He was arrested and FIR No 97/22 under sections 8/21/22/60 of NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Miran Sahib. The whole operation was done under the supervision of SDPO R S Pura Surinder Singh.
In another instance, a party of Police Station Poonch headed by PSI Shuwam Sharma along with other officials, while on routine patrolling duty, intercepted 2 persons namely Fayaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Bashir, resident of Gagrian, at present Chandak and Amitpal Singh, son of Ajeet, resident of Ward No. 17, Poonch and recovered 4.5 gm and 4 gm heroin like substance from their possession respectively. The duo was arrested and FIR no 180, 181/2022 under sections 8/21 of NDPS Act was registered against them at Police Station Poonch. The recoveries were made by Insp Ranjeet Singh Rao, SHO Poonch under the supervision of Dysp (HQRS) Poonch and Addl SP Poonch Mushim Ahmed, under overall supervision of SSP Poonch.
Rajouri Police also arrested two persons along with heroine like narcotic substance. A team headed by SHO Rajouri Insp Fareed Ahmed and assisted by PSI Salman-ul-din while on patrolling intercepted two persons on motorcycle bearing registration number JK11F 1665, who were found smuggling consignment of narcotics. The arrested persons, identified as Mohd Kabir, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Darhaj; Nazir Hussain, son of Mohd Shah, resident of Kotdhara, Rajouri. 36 gm heroin was recovered from their possession. Accordingly, both were arrested and FIR No. 445/2022 under sections 8/21/22/25/29 of NDPS Act was registered and further investigation started.
Doda Police also apprehended a notorious drug peddler from Doda. As per a statement issued by Doda Police, a party from Police Station Doda, led by PSI Abhishekh Sharma apprehended a notorious drug peddler namely Ashiq Hussain, son of Abdul Majeed, resident of Sadeeqa Abad and recovered 12 gm Heroin from his possession. FIR No. 190/2022, under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
