SAMBA: Police on Wednesday foiled bovine smuggling bid by rescuing six bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
According to a report, a police party headed by Inspector Rakesh Sharma, SHO Police Station Ghagwal intercepted a vehicle (JK08D-5044) on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Ghagwal on its way from Samba to Kathua carrying six bovines being illegally transported.
On seeing the police Naka, the driver and the owner of the said vehicle fled away leaving the vehicle much before the Naka. Accordingly, the vehicle was seized and case has been registered. Efforts are being made to nab the absconding accused driver.
