SIT constituted to trace minor domestic help DB grants 3 weeks time to SIT for filling updated status report

JAMMU: The Division Bench of J and K High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal on Friday granted three weeks time to the newly formed Special Investigating Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the case of mysterious disappearance of a minor domestic help from the residence of Judicial Officer to come out with the updated status report.
The Court’s direction came when the much publicised Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding disappearance of a minor domestic help namely Rafiq Ahmed from the residence of Judicial Officer took a new turn with Senior AAG S.S Nanda disseminating information to the Division Bench that SSP Jammu has issued an order on 11th June, 2015 whereby constituting a SIT headed by SDPO City South Jammu with SHO Police Station Bahu Fort Jammu, Incharge Police Post Narwal, SI Showkat Amin of Police Station Bahu Fort as its members while SP South will be the Supervisory Officer of the SIT to carry out the investigation in case FIR No. 86/2015 under Section 363 RPC of Police Station Bahu Fort Jammu.
The senior AAG in the open Court also forwarded a copy of the status report to the Division Bench wherein the steps taken in the investigation had been highlighted and informed the Division Bench that this status report is from Incharge SSP Jammu in accordance with directions of the Division Bench in its order dated 10th June, 2015.
In the said status report it is stated that during course of investigation, the Investigating Officer (IO) recorded statements of Nazira Bibi (mother of missing boy), Mohd Muddassir from whom the missing boy had purchased the mobile phone and scooter, Hanifa Bibi (sister of missing boy) and Abdul Rehman, the independent witness who had seen the missing boy on 13th April, 2015. The IO also obtained the call details of the missing boy and also enquired from some suspected persons including PSO of Judicial Officer, Judicial Officer and his wife. “No breakthrough about the present location or whereabouts of the abducted boy as well as his abductors has come to light”, the report read. The status report further said that a team headed by ASI Mohammad Rafiq has also been sent to different areas of Kashmir valley for the search of the missing boy. A publication has also been made in daily newspaper in this regard. The information relating to missing of Rafiq Ahmed has also been sent to IG Crime. Further a look-out notice for tracing out missing boy has also been issued by DPO Jammu besides signal has also been flashed to all SSPs/SDPOs/SHOs/ Incharge PPs of the State and all over India with full particulars of the missing boy and to further speed-up the process of tracing out the missing boy. To conclude the investigation of the case on merits, an SIT headed by SDPO South Jammu under the close supervision of SP City South has also been constituted vide DPO Jammu Order No. CRB/1526785-91/DPOJ dated 11th June, 2015.
Meanwhile, Advocate Deepika Singh Rajawat, the petitioner in person submitted that a short time may be given to the SIT to trace the missing boy. JNF

JAMMU: The Divisional Bench on Friday in the open court appreciated the role played by child rights activist Deepika Singh Rajawat for highlighting the issue of children and the violations of labour laws concerning the children.
Justice D S Thakur heading the bench remarked in the open court that the court appreciates the efforts of the young lawyer in bringing out the issue pertaining to children.
