JAMMU:Member Legislat-ive Council, Jammu and Kashmir, Charanjeet Singh Khalsa is going to organise a Sikh convention at City Farms Jammu on 11th September from 10:00 AM. Talking to reporters, Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, alone Sikh representative in present State Government, said that it is his prime duty to protect the rights of his community. “95 per cent of Sikh residing in J and K are Displaced Persons of 1947 and since a long time they were deprived of their rights,” he said adding that now the time has come to do something in their favour. He said the demand of National Minority Commission in J and K, issue of refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1965, border inhabitants, implementation of Punjabi language in J and K, regularisation of refugee Bastis in and outside of notified areas, welfare in transport industry, special status to the DPs, security and employment for wards of Kashmiri Sikhs are to be looked into on priority. “Central Government has granted a compensation of Rs 2,000 crores for the DPs of PoJK and we will try best to distribute the same in good manner,” he asserted. He appealed to all the political personalities, intellectuals, Sikh Sangat to attend the said convention.
