Sikh bodies demand justice for 1989-riot victims

JAMMU: Jammu Kashmir Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu (DGPC), Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Sikh Intellectuals Circle, Sikh Student Federation, Sikh Nojawan Sabha and Sikh Welfare Front have paid rich tributes to victims of 13th January 1989 Anti-Sikh riots in Jammu and have demanded immediate publication of Ansari Commission report.
A meeting of Sr. leaders of these organisations was held here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of S.T.S Wazir President JKGPB to express solidarity with the families of victims of Anti-Sikh riots, who were mercilessly killed by fundamentalist today in 1989 and unfortunately till date a single person has not been arrested in this context and the report of Ansari Commission has not seen the light of the day till date.
Sikh Leaders said that neither justice has been done nor adequate compensation and healing touch has been provided to families of these innocent victims, which is a blot on the face of secularism, justice and democracy. Sikh leaders said “we are being discriminated in every field of life in Jammu and Kashmir and similarly no justice has been done with us in many others Anti-Sikh riots and mysterious killings. Which has badly shaken the faith of minority Sikh community in justice delivering system and it clearly indicates that there are two yard sticks that govern the norms for delivering justice in Jammu and Kashmir”.
Sikh leaders have decided to approach Human Rights Organisations and present rulers in Jammu and Kashmir for publication of Ansari Commission report, adequate compensation to families of innocent victims and stern action against the culprits. Other prominent Sikh leaders present in the meeting -Jathedar Mohinder Singh, Jagjeet Singh (R.S Pura), Harjinder Singh, Surjeet Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Jaspal Singh Mangal, Bhai Gurdev Singh, Surinder Singh Wazir, Manjeet Singh, Mohinder Singh (Akhnoor), Manmohan Singh Khalsa, Ranjeet Singh, Suchwanl Singh, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, Kuldeep Singh (Kirpind), Harmeet Singh, Manjeet Singh and Rajindcr Singh Wazir.
