JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu alongwith Chief Conservator of Forest launched plantation drive by planting Italian Cypress saplings donated by a well known ecologist from Doda Kesri Shashi Kumar.
About 36 Italian trees were planted in the complex of Divisional Commissioner Office in the presence of Additional Commissioner, Jammu, Assistant Commissioner (Central) with a message that trees make the environment pollution free and hence everyone should plant more and more trees.
He further impressed upon everyone to adopt trees and nurture them. He said that environmental degradation is a great threat to mankind which needs serious thought to turn the distant dream into reality of having lush green localities to get fresh water, air and healthy atmosphere.
